About the practice

Adams & Sutherland is an innovative architectural practice set up in 2001. We undertake a diverse range of work for both public and private clients, to which we bring a clear and sensitive design approach and a commitment to engaging creatively with users. Our client base reflects the broad range and scale of work undertaken; from the Greater London Authority, Olympic Delivery Authority, London Development Agency, local and regional authorities, to regeneration agencies, community groups, schools, charities and private developers both in London and across South East England. Director Elizabeth Adams undertakes selective work as an expert witness on urban design and architectural quality, and recently represented the GLA in its successful refusal of permission for the Tulip. We are committed to undertaking work which can make a real difference to the quality of people’s lives. Our priorities are: Observation: An intelligent response to existing context and situation and the specific needs of clients and users. Sustainability Ecological considerateness and an economy of means. Loose fit Architecture that can accommodate change in use Sensuality Animation of spatial experience with heightened awareness of weather, light and the passing of the seasons We have proven successes in grant applications, and in attracting, where appropriate, additional funding. We have proven success in delivering innovation, quality and commercial success within a limited budget.
