Primrose Hill is one of the finest of the Victorian London Board schools and is a Grade II Listed Building. The grandeur of its architecture was intended to raise the aspirations of its users and the internal high-ceilinged spaces provide generous light-filled spaces in which to learn. We were initially appointed to create a new classroom and as a consequence a relocated staff room into a purpose-made space crafted from one of the main school halls. Our current work includes the restoration of rooms to their original configuration by designing out the clutter accumulated through years of various occupations, the creation of a new library, new service area, renovation of external area, the upgrading of the building's environmental performance, the formation of usable rooms for parents' facilities, as well as major renovation works to the basement, and general renovation work to reinstate structural integrity to the building. All works are scheduled to be completed in August 2011.
