Contact Practicewhat if: projects are an award winning architecture and urban design practice with expertise in working on transport and social infrastructure projects, public realm design, community buildings, and in the social housing context. Our projects range from small interventions to large strategic works, each informed by an understanding of the place and the engagement of people that inhabit it. Our work is pragmatic and seeks to deliver inspiring spaces and buildings that improve living quality. what if: projects have delivered acclaimed projects enabling community-led regeneration exemplified through our current projects in Southwark. We helped initiate the private/public funded Livesey Exchange, Peckham in collaboration with Southwark Council and the crowd-funded Castle Place feasibility study at the Elephant. Both projects address the need for communal space and offer new commercial, skill building and community activities. what if: projects have carried out refurbishment and retrofit projects in including the remodelling of the sheltered housing scheme Hogarth Court and the award winning Charterhouse Road Club community centre. Since 2014 what if: projects worked on the Mini Holland-Waltham Forest bringing far-reaching improvements to the borough’s cycle infrastructure, footways and public realm. For this innovative design-led approach to London’s transport infrastructure the team were awarded Architect of the Year 2018 and won the New London Award in 2017. what if: projects are part of the GLA’s ADU Panel for Local Regeneration, Community Engagement and Design Advice and are a member of the GLA’s Special Assistant team.
