About the practice

Birds Portchmouth Russum Architects (BPR) established their practice in January 1989, having won an open architectural competition for a car park in Chichester. Completed in 1991, winning 6 awards, the project is held as an exemplar and laid the foundation for BPR's specialism of working within highly sensitive and historic contexts. BPR have designed a wide range of award winning projects for the public and private sectors including masterplanning, infrastructure, schools and residences. The practice is renowned for its creativity and innovative use of materials and new technologies. Downley House won 6 awards including RIBA & Civic Trust and was nominated for the Manser Prize. Their project at Wood Lane, Highgate was shortlisted for House of the Year and has won RIBA Award and a Commendation from the Civic Trust. BPR have recently completed construction of a mixed-use scheme in Highgate and a residential addition to a Listed Building in the Clerkenwell Green Conservation Area. BPR have established a reputation for innovative design with commitment to quality and cost effective solutions in order to suit every individual client requirement.
