The new 4 storey house in Highgate maximises the potential of the narrow infill site and provides a contemporary addition to the eclectic group of villas that line Wood Lane. The traditional relationship of living and sleeping accommodation is inverted with the bedroom and bathrooms set at garden level and the living area elevated above to enjoy the south aspect and panoramic views over London. The double height living level above contains an open plan kitchen /dining / living space with an elevated crystalline conservatory on the south side and a small external terrace above the entrance. The Garden and Entrance level plinth is of masonry construction appropriate to its earth retaining requirements. The living area unit was prefabricated off site and craned into position. The unit is made by cold formed timber and resin boat building technology which ensures quality and space efficient construction.
