The relationship of the car park to the cathedral and medieval city wall inspires the design of a new city wall which extends from the existing coach park and provides an elevated tree lined pedestrian 'wall walk' along Avenue de Chartres into the heart of Chichester. The wall walk screens the multi-deck car park and combines with the medieval city wall to form the new western approach to Chichester, creating a new city entrance portal as it bridges the Avenue de Chartres. Alike the medieval wall encircling historic Chichesterthe new city wall re-establishes the edge to the city. Within the 900 space car park visitors can park directly alongside generous, well illluminated and brightly colour coded pedestrian aisles which lead towards the circular stair towers and access the wall walk at first floor level.
