About the practice

We are architects and interior designers working from studios in Bristol and Appledore on the North Devon coast. Our work for private homeowners includes one-off new build houses, barn conversions, extensions, remodelling and interior design projects. Commercial projects include urban regeneration, farm diversification, housing and mixed-use developments, education, leisure, tourism and hospitality schemes. Our RIBA Chartered Practice has a small, energetic and talented team with a breadth of experience covering residential and commercial projects of all shapes and sizes across the UK. We might be compact in size, but our ideas are big. As are our capabilities and we pride ourselves on delivering outstanding work whilst maintaining a highly personalised, friendly service. Both studio locations, in the beautiful fishing village of Appledore on the North Devon Coast and in the City of Bristol, enable us to draw inspiration from our surroundings and respond to each brief with imagination and originality. As South West Architects, we want to create unique spaces that are connected to place and community. We are members of the Passivhaus Trust and the Association for Environment Conscious Building. We have certified Passivhaus designers in-house and appreciate the benefits of the Passivhaus approach. All our projects incorporate its benefits where viable on a practical and financial level. When you instruct us, you become part of our project design team and we’ll work collaboratively throughout your project.
