About the practice

Markos Design Workshop is a RIBA-chartered architecture practice specialising in well-considered extensions, eco-homes and unique homestays. We value direct, one-to-one relationships with our clients. There's no getting lost in a corporate machine — you work directly with me throughout the design and build. This ensures responsiveness to site, context, timing and budget, while delivering the best possible outcome for you. We believe good design should be accessible to everyone. A key part of being a proficient architect is working effectively within the material, time and budgetary constraints of each project. Good design isn't dependent on high spend; it depends on the right principles, intent, approach and quality care. Our practice is recognised nationally, and internationally, for our expertise in timber as a structural and architectural material. As a young practice, we take a technology-first approach to design and construction. We model in 3D, use AI as a visual aid, draw digitally — and still hand-draw. In construction, we use Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and work closely with trusted contractor partners. Our background is rooted in Peter's upbringing in carpentry. This gives us a deep understanding of how materials and structures integrate, sharpening our ability to determine what will work, financially and on site. That proficiency makes us a favoured choice among clients, engineering firms and contractors. Alongside architecture, our core business, we run our own homestay business, properties we've designed, built and rent out. It gives us first-hand insight into the financial and commercial realities of developing projects.
