Commonbond Architects is a creative studio committed to crafting beautiful, sustainable buildings that are deeply connected to their landscape, context, and everyday life. Working across the UK from studios in Sheffield, Derbyshire, and London, we work closely with private clients, developers, and commercial organisations on a diverse portfolio of work. Our approach is thoughtful and site specific. We embrace a tactile, analogue design process, utilising hand sketching, physical model making, and material prototyping, to deliver idiosyncratic architecture that responds to the character and history of a place. Guided by a deep interest in natural materials and low carbon design, we advocate for an architecture that respects what is already there. We make careful interventions that respond to natural environments and sensitively adapt existing buildings. We design spaces that work hard, where light and air are celebrated, and views are carefully framed. Our projects range from sensitive heritage retrofits and bespoke private homes to small residential developments and creative workspaces. We are highly skilled at unlocking difficult sites and navigating listed buildings and conservation areas.
