Contact Practice
Founded by Laurie Chetwood in 1988, Chetwoods is an international architectural practice of around seventy architects, designers and technical specialists working from studios in London, Birmingham and China, and globally through its United Studio Network. The practice is widely recognised for its expertise in industrial and logistics architecture while delivering award-winning projects across commercial, mixed-use, masterplanning, public-sector, transportation, data centre, retail and residential sectors. It has designed and delivered some of the UK’s earliest BREEAM Outstanding logistics facilities and pioneering urban logistics developments, the first supermarket rated BREEAM Excellent, and the world’s first WELL™ Building Standard industrial pilot scheme, first BREEAM Outstanding logistics building achieved at design stage, and first building verified as Net Zero Carbon for Construction. Its work has received multiple national and international awards, including Architectural Practice of the Year, New London Architecture Awards, the European Hotel Design Award for Architecture, and short-listing for the RIBA Stirling Prize. Alongside practice work, Chetwoods leads research into low-carbon construction, including participation in Project RESTOR with the universities of Cambridge and Birmingham exploring structural steel reuse, and publication of the Enabling Structural Timber in Logistics report.
