About the practice

Syte Architects was founded on the belief that the spaces we live and work in affect our lives, and that good design affects us positively. We aspire to create architecture that makes a real and valuable contribution to people’s everyday life; spaces that people enjoy being in and using. Our projects emerge from a careful consideration of the characteristics of each site, alongside the requirements of each individual client. This approach enables us to create bespoke solutions that are tailored for the individual client. Our studio is centred on an investigative design process where ideas are tested through a variety of media. We give a lot of thought to the manner in which light enters the building, the colours and textures of the different materials we use and how we might frame views through spaces or to a garden or courtyard. If carefully considered, such elements all serve to connect us to nature and create spaces that are rich in experience but also practical and functional. As architects we work across all stages of projects, from inception, through concept and detail design, and acting as Contract Administrators and preparing valuations during construction on site. The construction of a building involves a multitude of different people across the life of the project, through design and construction and then occupation by the client or others who use the building. We believe that the most successful projects are the result of an open and collaborative process that is enjoyable for all involved.
