About the practice

MEA Studio designs functional, elegant spaces for modern living. We create timeless, considered homes, combining heritage features with thoughtful design interventions. As a RIBA Chartered Practice, we have expertise in delivering high-quality, low-stress projects with residents as well as developers. Our team has experience working on new builds and listed buildings, bringing a considered design approach to each project. Our services cover all work stages, from briefing and concept design to handover on completion of the construction works. We ensure our projects are as stress-free as possible, with clear outlines of our process and what you can expect at each stage of the project. Our work improves natural light, storage, and visual connections to outside spaces. We primarily retrofit historic buildings, including listed properties. We like to restore existing features, but any new inserts tend to remain modern and simple to distinguish between the heritage features of the existing house and any new additions. Differentiating between these two results in clear legibility, describing the evolution of the home over different periods of time. We use Virtual Reality to show our clients a clear idea of the project before it's constructed. We approach our work with a start-up mentality, which means we have a lot of energy, persistence, and a focus on creating value for our clients.
