About the practice

KKE Architects is unique in that since our inception in 2005 the core of our work has been with hospices and related charities. Whilst this work remains our main focus, hospice projects have been complemented by work in education, Almshouses, community schemes and independent/retirement living. We are currently working on several hospice projects - both refurbishments/ extensions and new build schemes - throughout the UK. We have previously worked with over 30 hospice charities on over 70 projects. The size of projects we are engaged in at present can stretch from a £100,000 day hospice refurbishment to projects for a completely new build hospice with in-patient units as large as 28 beds and costs up to £17 million. The main focus of KKE Architects is to provide our clients with the best solution to their brief within their budget, and whilst we do not focus on obtaining awards, we have previously submitted some of our hospice and other projects to a limited number of award schemes. For the size of architectural practice, we have received an unusually high number of prestigious awards and shortlisting - including both AJ Awards and a number RIBA Regional Awards, with our highest achievement of a RIBA National Award for the in-patient unit completed in 2017 for St Davids Hospice in Newport. We have also won a RIBA Wales Regional Award and The Welsh Architecture Gold Medal.
