About the practice

alma-nac is a London based, award-winning architecture practice with a wide ranging portfolio sitting across residential, commercial, educational, cultural and arts sectors. alma-nac has built a reputation for its imaginative yet pragmatic work. In 2020, alma-nac was named as one of the Architects' Journal 40 under 40, a list that names architecture's brightest up-and-coming talent. In 2021 their project House-within-a-House, won an RIBA National Award as well as an Architects' Journal Retrofit Award. alma-nac has a proven track record of delivering fantastic buildings from awkward sites and tight budgets. alma-nac makes characterful spaces that are defined by their user and site, not a predefined style. Their ongoing research into 'Urban Dentistry' has seen a growing collection of overlooked scraps of land given new leases off life as houses, studios and business spaces. alma-nac applies common sense sustainability techniques to all projects, and more holistic green building systems where there is interest. alma-nac have recently guest edited AD magazine, compiling their research into the new and different ways architects are practicing their craft around the world. alma-nac team members have taught and lectured at universities throughout the UK.
