About the practice

Grafted is an RIBA award-winning, craft-led architecture practice. We specialise in bespoke joinery design and fabrication. We work across London and the UK delivering contemporary extensions, renovations, retrofits and interior design. We specialise in houses within heritage locations and conservation areas and secured planning permission for renovations and extensions to Victorian properties as well as more contemporary new-build apartments. We have worked on detached, semi-detached and terrace houses designing rear extensions, side-return extensions, wrap-around extensions and loft conversions. We have also designed whole-house refurbishments and deep retrofits, with a focus on bringing the house's sustainability requirements up to date via the addition of air source heat pumps and internal and external wall insulation. Our approach is defined by our first project, Cast Corbel House, which received a 2025 RIBA East Award for its ambitious pre-cast concrete and red brick façade. The design and build project was longlisted for House of the Year and featured on series eight of the Channel 4 show. We work with our clients to improve the day-to-day function of their home by maximising natural light, creating connections to the garden/outdoors or improving their entertaining/home working space.
