About the practice

Donovan Hewitt chartered architects based in Leatherhead, Surrey, was founded by Donovan Hewitt in 1972. Graham Ryding (BSc Dip Arch RIBA) took over as Principal in 1996 providing architectural and planning services in Surrey and surrounding areas. The practice aims to gain an understanding of client aspirations, requirements and expectations and then in partnership develop individual designs that bring those ideas into reality. Full architectural services can be provided from initial ideas, concept design and planning applications, through to contract administration, or alternatively a range of services to meet individual client requirements. The majority of projects are private houses, newbuild, extension, refurbishment and re-modeling. The practice also has extensive experience with in the education, health, flats and historic building sectors. Designs are produced with 3D CAD modelling software making it easier for clients to understand and appreciate design proposals at an early stage. 3D external and internal views can be provided to illustrate design options and aid discussion. Initial consultations are free of charge and typically start with a meeting at the client’s property to establish the scope of the project, identify specific requirements and limitations together with the desired extent of architectural services. A fee quotation is provided after the initial meeting.
