Contact PracticeBaynes and Mitchell Architects was established in 1995. We are one of six practices who had a project shortlisted for the 2017 RIBA Stirling Prize. The project was Command of the Oceans for The Historic Dockyard Chatham. Our workload varies in type and value from private residential, medium-scale commercial and Heritage Lottery funded projects. We strive to design simple, understandable and modern buildings which respond to the specifics of any given brief and to the social and physical contexts of the sites involved. With every project we carefully analyse the brief in close consultation with the client and believe that debate and discussion are an integral part of the design process. Heritage Projects We have extensive experience in the renovation of existing buildings, in the incorporation of modern elements into old and historic buildings and in the design of new buildings with a modern, contemporary edge. We are fully experienced in working with planning authorities, building control and conservation bodies including English Heritage. We continually work on buildings that are Grade I, Grade II or Grade II* listed and those that have been classified as scheduled ancient monuments by English Heritage. This has given us valuable knowledge of conservation processes and the experience to work within important historic sites. www.baynesandmitchell.co.uk
