Transformation of a cramped end of terrace into a larger, contemporary space for a growing family. ZMA created a clear connection between the open plan living space and external gardens by moving the front garden entrance to the side, allowing the front garden to be a more private space. The design was driven by the plot orientation whereby morning and evening light penetrated the gardens, allowing the family to always enjoy natural light. The aesthetics of the building played complement to the existing post war terrace but also, with double height spaces and full height windows, enhanced the existing form.
