The demolition of a pastiche ‘Palladian’ 4-bedroom suburban home in Esher to create a new sustainable house big enough for the growing family. Built quickly and precisely from SIPS, the open spans created helped to maximise the open-plan feel of the living areas. A simple palette of materials was used to create a home that fits in, with internal finishes extending into the garden. The side extension is a lightweight addition with vertical timber cladding and large glazed openings, topped with a sedum roof to enhance the biodiversity of the build and to blend with the garden and surrounding landscape.
