Woodford Architecture and Interiors
15 North Street , Ashburton , Newton Abbot , Devon , TQ13 7QH
Moulded into a south-facing grassland slope, the new house and associated belvedere lookout replaces a former dilapidated farmhouse and its outbuildings with a new highly sustainable new home set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Cornish coast close to Port Issac, Padstow and Rock. The design responds to its sensitive site and uses natural materials including local slate and Shou Sugi Ban timber. Interior spaces are flexible and functional while timeless in style. Dramatic and sometimes playful volumes are counterbalanced with the careful use of materials, lighting and subtle features for storage and decoration. Huge windows and sliding doors seamlessly connect inside and out. Working with our clients we provided a full architectural and interior design service for this project, from planning application, building regulations and construction drawings to fabric and furniture selection and interior fit out. "The service delivered was excellent right from the get-go. Gavin's attention to detail and unerring focus on quality design that was sympathetic to what the planners would require was stand out. The team has also been excellent at intermediating with a large team of consultants and third parties, making our job much easier. Most importantly, it has been really great to see how much the Woodford team really care about and seem excited by our project. We would recommend the team for high quality and important projects." – Private client
