Alteration to existing property, Listed Building - Grade I, Within a Conservation Area
The practice has carried out a number of project over the last five years at All Saints' Church West Dulwich. Featured here are two minor alterations to the interior. A new aumbry/tabernacle was designed by us and installed by an artist craftsperson (Steve Lewis) in an existing niche in the chancel. Made from burnt and gilded oak on a bras bass, our concept for this piece was that the doors of the aumbry open like a pair of hands, revealing the brass and bath stone ciborium inside - also designed by us. A new tea point was designed by us in conjunction with Tim McFarlane engineer, who advised on the use of toughened glass for the cover to the piece of furniture. This cover rises and falls using gas struts; when a service is on, the glass is returned down to cover the worktop neatly.
