The work at the grade I listed Becket's Chapel in Wymondham, Norfolk, was initially conceived as urgent repairs. The scope evolved into an unprecedented retrofit project, strategically enhancing energy efficiency and reducing the building's carbon footprint. Systematic assessments guided environmental improvements, including insulated limecrete flooring, removal of unsympathetic wall finishes, structural repairs, and roof insulation. The Architect Studio was the lead consultant throughout this journey, orchestrating a seamless fusion of heritage preservation and modern sustainability. Since the building's reopening in July 2023, the community's overwhelmingly positive response reaffirms Becket's Chapel as a cherished heritage asset in Wymondham.
