2701 Latifa Tower , Sheikh Zayed Road , Dubai , Dubai , N/A , United Arab Emirates
Part of a government initiative to enhance the Sport and Recreational infrastructure of the Western Region, the Ghayathi Racing Grounds offer visitors a unique desert experience within a state-of the art venue for one of the UAE's most important social, cultural and traditional events. Set on a pristine site in the midst of Al Gharbia’s rolling desert dunes, the contoured architectural forms of the grandstand echo the curves and undulations of the surrounding landscape. A sweeping, cantilevered roof, extending from one end of the building to the other, shelters open-air and indoor viewing facilities. Images of traditional camel races are etched on metal panels beside the main entrance and a lightweight steel structure resting on rugged stone base cantilevers out into the landscape, offering panoramic views of both racetrack and the desert beyond. The linear, convex form of the Grandstand echoes the shape of the adjacent track, thereby defining a sheltered, concave entry court on its opposite side. A seamless, fully-glazed façade facing the track is inclined to eliminate glare and provide unobstructed views from the VIP area. Designed for daily or extended events, the grandstand incorporates advanced conference and F&B facilities, lounges, a Royal Suite and mosque to support pre-race and post-race activities. The Racecourse comes with both 6 km and 8 km tracks supported by receiving areas, stables and training tracks. Tangram’s scope also included a landscaped shelterbelt and track lighting.
