A contemporary interpretation of a barn development, located outside the established settlement of Gorefield, this project is a paragraph 79 bespoke self-build certified passivhaus dwelling. As part of our services we provided architectural services including support pre, during and post construction, thermal bridge elimination and consultation with MVHR, Services and thermal bridge specialists, passivhaus designer services, planning services including representation at Planning Committee and planning strategy to secure Paragraph 79 Approval. The brief for this project was to secure planning approval outside of the settlement and to create a comfortable flexible contemporary home that required minimal energy to operate and that was futureproofed for aging occupants as well as being fossil fuel free and providing the opportunity for generating an income, waste management and food and fuel production. The post occupation review demonstrates that the brief was fully met, the construction costs were £1150/m2 with an end sales value £160k above project costs, it costs the occupants nothing to run on a yearly basis as a result of the fabric first and renewable approach as well as the Feed In Tariff, it generates more energy that is consumes and the annex generates a yearly B&B income.
