This Grade II Listed Building in Holland Park has been owned by the same family as two separate dwellings for many years and, after several internal alterations and repairs, very little of what remained in the house was original. A crucial part of the works was the amalgamation of the two separate dwellings back to a single family home. Our brief required us to make the entrance more welcoming and attractive, to give a sense of arrival, and to do so within the constraints of the Listed building and Conservation area. The most important part of our work was the reinstatement of the lost features both internally and externally; fully replicating the ones we could identify and, where this cannot be ascertained, using our knowledge, experience, and research to reinstate new elements that would have been appropriate for a building of the period and style. Crucial to the success of this project was the discreet renewal of all services, allowing us to create a beautiful Family home that is compatible with modern living.
