The Grade II listed Great Tythe Barn has been carefully reimagined to enhance environmental performance and the experience of weddings and events, while respecting its historic significance. Appointed in 2023, Rural Space Architecture led the design, planning, and listed building consent, while contract administrating works commenced in November 2024. The project reduces operational carbon through upgraded building services, a move away from gas, and future provision for on-site solar energy. Architectural interventions include a discreet bar extension with green roof, enhanced natural daylight via new glazed threshing doors, and the replacement of end-of-life timber cladding with new waney-edge boards to echo the barn’s agricultural character.
