Listed Building - Grade II, New Build
1 Dartmouth Close , The Plains , TOTNES , Devon , TQ9 5DR , United Kingdom
Following three years of work, Rud Sawers Architects have successfully completed their largest project to date, Lympstone Manor - A Grade II listed luxury country house hotel and restaurant set within 28 acres of Devon Countryside overlooking the Exe Estuary. The £5.5M construction costs entailed the sensitive restoration, renovation and extension of a former private house. Rud Sawers Architects (RSA) were commissioned by Michael Caines in Spring 2015 as Lead consultants, Architects, Landscape designers and CDM-C consultant for the project. The building dates back to 1760 as an original farmhouse and has for years been subject to many changes of use. It has been extended, adapted as a farmhouse, private country house, nursing home, residential flats and a wedding venue. Intrusive surveys concluded the building had suffered years of neglect and lack of maintenance and as a result entailed extensive fabric repair and restoration. The design included a 21-bedroom hotel and 3 restaurant rooms which are serviced by extensive Michelin star kitchen facilities. Additional accommodation included remote staff accommodation buildings, staff operation building and landscape management building. New car parks have also been constructed within new landscaped plans. The hotel was officially opened by Michael Caines and his investors on 3rd April 2017.
