QAD were commissioned to assist Westgate Academy, a primary school in Lincoln, bid for a share of Condition Improvement Funds that had been allocatedfor academic year 2017/18. To acertain relatively secure costs the service initially was to run from RIBA Stage 0-3. Given the historic nature of the site and its locale significant coordination was required with Historic England, the Local Planning Authority and the local Conservation Officer. The design of the two new classrooms will replace dilapidated 1980s mobile facilities with modern airy teaching spaces fully meeting the requirements of Department for Education guidelines. This will also provide environmentally superior product vastly reducing the schools’ spend on heating and providingan environment conducive to learning.
