New Build, Alteration to existing property, Brownfield site
8 Greenhouse , Beeston Road , LEEDS , West Yorkshire , LS11 6AD , United Kingdom
This BREEAM ‘Very Good’ project had to allow for the introduction of 3 other mental health services to sit alongside the existing Older Peoples Services. This would then bring about efficiencies of operation and help to centralise the service provision to within the heart of the community which it serves. A challenge to the project was that the services were very disparate in type and had a need to retain some identity within the overall as well as show a presence as equal with the other 3 services. Given that all 4 services were of a very different size the design approach adopted was to allow a new build entrance area (reception) become a unifying factor behind which one is dispersed into each of the separate services with each retaining their own individual character and operation. Due to service pressures, these works were carried out on a ‘live’ building.
