About the practice

Powell Tuck Associates is a west London-based practice, providing both architecture and interior design services. Much of our studio’s work centres on the transformation of period properties, often involving complex and highly technical alterations, extensions and listed building projects. Working frequently within Conservation Areas, we have developed significant expertise in navigating planning constraints and achieving successful outcomes. The approach is rooted in the belief that new interventions should not erase a building’s past, but work in dialogue with it. Externally, designs are often restrained and enduring; internally, they bring light, openness and coherence to spaces and enable homes to better reflect contemporary patterns of living. We have extensive experience in the design of residential basements, where the challenge lies in integrating new below ground accommodation seamlessly with the existing house. A particular focus is placed on introducing natural light deep into the plan, ensuring these spaces feel connected, generous and fully part of the home. Alongside refurbishment and conversion projects, Powell Tuck Associates undertakes bespoke new-build developments for both private clients and developers, applying the same principles of proportion, materiality and craft from the outset. We aim to create architecture that feels neither old nor new, but simply well made: carefully crafted spaces designed to endure and serve their purpose for many years.
