Following the construction of a new Leisure Centre and Community Hub in Tadworth, SCC were looking to give the new Youth Centre its own brand to represent the positive and supportive environment that the council offers to young people. Playles Architecture Team consulted with the young people and worked collaboratively with graphic designers and bespoke furniture manufacturers to create an exciting and inspiring internal space. SCC’s overall aim was to reduce the number of NEET’s by providing an enticing and modern youth centre with highly visual graphics aimed to encourage younger audiences to address issues concerning them which they may find difficult to talk about. The interior had bright walls and messages throughout the spaces to engage, inspire and motivate the young people, including advise and tips on how to stay savvy online. The key factor in achieving the aims of this project was the capability to engage the young people and members of the youth service in the design from the outset.
