Reconstruction of fire-damaged private house in conjunction with Gerald Steer Architect. The GII listed timber frame & brick house under thatch suffered severe fire-damage in 2006 destroying 85% of original structure. New house design carried out by Gerald Steer with detailed design and contract administration by Patrick Wilson Architects. New house incorporates repaired ground floor of timber frame core of original c1650 dwelling with new oak frame to first floor. The remainder of the replacement house has been executed in blockwork cavity construction rendered and tiled. Space heating is provided through underfloor heating powered by solar water collector and back up oil-fired boiler. Ventilation is provided by Whole House Heat Recovery system utilising spare heat from oil-fire AGA in Kitchen.
