The brief for the 'Family House' was to convert two flats within a Georgian terrace into a large family home. The challenge for the house was to bring light into the centre, linking the 3 floors and also creating a impressive entrance sequence. The flats were stripped out and a flowing staircase was placed into the centre of the house linking the 3 floors together. The top floor was entirely for the adults, with a master bedroom suite and large bathroom. The middle floor was for the children with two bedrooms and a shared bathroom. The lower ground floor has a large kitchen and living room space with a dividing sliding door. The old coal bunkers were re-purposed into utility spaces off the kitchen area.
