Prior to the project, the ground floor flat was effectively just one bedroom as the second room lacked natural light or external views. The project included an extension into a small unusable yard space, in order to provide the flat with improved kitchen and dining areas. The quality of the second bedroom was greatly improved by slightly adjusting its size, allowing for a new rooflight to draw in natural light and an internal window with shutter to provide optional views across the living space to the garden beyond. The layout of the flat was revised to improve the quality of spaces, with new shower rooms, fitted wardrobes and joinery, a bespoke kitchen, and new flooring and refurbishment throughout. Skylights were used to draw natural light into the heart of the plan, which otherwise would have felt dark and constrained.
