The Bright Foundation appointed NCA to convert and extend a series of former farm outbuildings to create a Toy Museum, Puppet Theatre and Creative Learning Centre. The project houses an extensive private collection of toys, puppets, dolls’ houses and miniature theatres within a cluster of buildings set in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The design introduces a playful composition of dual-pitch roofs while retaining the agricultural character of the existing structures. A new barn will provide a flexible, modular space capable of hosting performances alongside teaching areas for toy-making workshops. The main barn has been extended and fitted out to create a full theatre. An outdoor learning space and sensory garden, complete with a small amphitheatre, is planned for delivery in 2027.
