Lightness and clarity underpin the replacement of the former ground-floor rear extension to this detached Edwardian house. The brief called for a space that could support the rhythms of a growing family, and the new addition is planned around a kitchen set beneath a large roof lantern positioned at the junction with the original structure. NCA introduced a timber-clad volume that discreetly absorbs the service spaces — the utility room and cloakroom — allowing the main room to remain free of visual clutter. This concealed structure strengthens the architectural order of the extension and creates a bright, calm family kitchen defined by natural light and a refined material palette.
