Seaton Delaval Hall is a multi award winning scheme, this £5.7m conservation and new build project delivered a range of improvements across the Sir John Vanbrugh designed estate. Conservation work focussed on repair to 1.6km of HaHa wall, reroofing of the West service range and masonry repairs to the Mausoleum and Mansion House elliptical stairs. A site-wide landscape scheme was developed to re-orientate the visitor route, enhancing the visitor offer and providing essential new visitor attractions and facilities. As part of the NLHF funded works, we designed a series of contemporary interventions to provide much needed visitor and back of house facilities. The new Brewhouse café, created within a repurposed and extended historic agricultural building has contributed to greatly increased visitor numbers since reopening. The architectural work has also been enhanced by playful interpretation by Imogen Cloet and Niall Black, building on Seaton Delaval Hall's reputation for theatre and drama. The interpretation scheme, contextual new build and conservation work create a harmonious whole; complementing the new Matthew Wilson and Studio Hardie designed landscape and play schemes. 2022 WINNER - RICS Awards (National) Heritage 2022 WINNER - RICS Awards (North East) Heritage 2022 SHORTLISTED - RIBA Awards 2021 WINNER - Constructing Excellence (North East) Conservation and Regeneration 2021 HIGHLY COMMENDED - Constructing Excellence (National) Conservation and Regeneration
