The award winning Grosvenor Apartments £2.1m development demolished a former hotel within an established Victorian terrace and reinstated it with a new building of 16 high quality apartments. The original townhouses, set within a conservation area were interconnected but had been altered beyond recognition. Issues with level changes and poor detailing had created a situation where the individual flat units were no longer fit for purpose. The bold decision was made to demolish the existing buildings and reinstate the large central section of terrace with a contemporary solution that successfully recreated the rhythm of the original terrace whilst offering accommodation meeting modern standards. This project provides a positive contribution to the conservation area, complementing the streetscape and was awarded the Lord Mayors Award for residential development and shortlisted for a RICS Renaissance Award.
