Northumberland
Alteration to existing property, Sited in Greenbelt land
101 Ouseburn Road , Newcastle upon Tyne , Tyne And Wear , NE6 5AF , United Kingdom
Planning Consent has just been granted for conversion of this former Healey Sawmill in rural Northumberland. Located in designated greenbelt / open countryside and within the setting of a Grade 2 listed building, an existing dilapidated structure is to be converted into a contemporary five bedroom home. A successful Pre-application Planning Enquiry (Pre-app) process with Northumberland County Council paved the way to a favourable outcome at Planning Application Stage. Following a full structural appraisal of the old sawmill building, the design team have worked closely with the existing structure to allow plenty of light into the interior through large glazed openings overlooking the beautiful landscape. Original building fabric is to be over-clad with natural larch strip and high levels of insulation to make for a highly sustainable adaptive reuse.
