Alteration to existing property, Within a Conservation Area
Three-Storey Rear Extension, Mansard Loft & Full Refurbishment — Georgian Terrace, Westbourne Conservation Area MTA won planning permission from Westminster City Council for a three-storey rear extension and mansard roof extension to a Georgian terraced house in the Westbourne Conservation Area — one of Westminster's most sensitive and closely scrutinised planning environments. Delicate negotiations with Westminster's conservation and planning officers secured permission for lower ground floor alterations to relocate a courtyard, a two-storey rear addition above, and a carefully modelled mansard roof extension designed to respect the character and roofline of the neighbouring buildings. Working within conservation area constraints, MTA ensured every element of the new addition was proportioned and detailed to complement the existing Georgian facade. The house was fully refurbished and reconfigured across all levels with new stairs, bathrooms and kitchen. The elegant Georgian sash window proportions flood the upper floors with natural light, while elegant Crittall steel doors on the lower ground floor bring the same character to the contemporary open plan family space below. MTA worked closely with the client, interior designers Covet Noir, and contractor JP Project Management to deliver a beautifully resolved home with careful attention to detail and finishes throughout.
