The Black Barn is a traditional agricultural building converted into a contemporary home under Class Q permitted development. The original oak frame is preserved and left exposed, so the building’s agricultural character does the work inside: open volumes, vaulted ceilings, and a restrained palette that lets the frame read clearly. Externally, black-stained timber cladding keeps the barn looking like a barn in its Cotswolds setting. Existing materials were reused where possible, and the conversion pairs the original structure with modern comfort and energy efficiency.
