About the practice

Maich Swift Architects create characterful architecture that is practical, carefully detailed, and robust. The practice employs environmentally responsible materials and construction methods, collaborating with clients, consultant designers, and communities on a diverse range of projects. Our work spans new-build and renovation projects, both permanent and temporary, in urban and rural settings. The practice welcomes commissions across architecture, design, and research. In our work we emphasise reconciling strong architectural and environmental intentions with contemporary construction realities. We embrace a careful and meticulous design approach that leads to simple solutions ensuring clarity in construction, contextual sensitivity, environmental responsibility, and adaptability. Our commitment to quality has been recognised with various awards, including the BD Young Architect of the Year award in 2022, RIBA Regional and National Awards. In 2023 the practice was shortlisted for the National Eisteddfod of Wales Gold Medal for Architecture and the Manser Medal. The work of the practice has been featured widely in print and online and exhibited at the Royal Academy. Both directors are involved in teaching, writing, and lecturing about architecture and building. Maich Swift Architects are based in North London but we are working on projects across the UK and further afield. We are an RIBA Chartered Practice and registered with the ARB.
