About the practice

JDDK Architects are a close-knit team of creative people who work alongside our clients to bring them best value from our services, working throughout the UK from our base in Newcastle upon Tyne. We have a significant heritage of delivering highly successful, high quality development projects across a variety of sectors, with wide ranging aspirations and wide ranging budgets. We bring that experience and expertise to every one of our clients for whom we are delivering social, economic and environmental value through designs that are imaginative, efficient, affordable and above all work well. From a starting point in 1987 of specialising in hospice and residential projects, we have expanded our range of work which is now diverse in type and scale including work on leisure, tourism, workplace, learning, masterplanning and heritage/conservation projects as well as continuing to work in health and housing. We have a particular interest and have gained considerable experience in environmentally low impact design, the principles of which we apply across all our work sectors. Our clients and development projects are located across the UK and we have worked in both Ireland and mainland Europe. The practice is led by its four Directors Nicky Watson, Kevin Turnbull, Adam Vaughan and Mura Mullan who maintain a direct, ‘hands on’ approach to project involvement. We are delighted to say that the quality of our work has been reflected in over 100 architectural awards, including the RIBA Building of the Year Award (now the Stirling Prize) for St Oswald’s Hospice.
