This conservation project at Tail Mill in Somerset was undertaken for the developer ZeroC. The scheme incorporates 45 residential units of which half are converted from the grade II listed buildings and half are new-build houses. The historic buildings have undergone sensitive restoration and refurbishment, and in some cases have been sympathetically extended. The new houses adopt traditional details and local materials. Following extensive consultation with Historic England, the Conservation Officer, and local residents, we acquired planning permission and listed building consent. The first two phases of work have been completed on site. More information and images are available at www.jamesarmitage.com/tail-mill-merriott
