Alteration to existing property, Listed Building - Grade II
The Grade 2 house is located in Oatlands Drive,. Weybridge. It was known as Ashley Cottage, originally the Rangers Cottage to Ashley House, a large Tudor Manor House built in the early 18th century. A single storey front extension was added in 1967, which is poorly built and does not have any architectural merit. The proposed scheme demolishes the existing extension and rebuilds a new extension on the same footprint. The new building provides contemporary living space, which externally respects the host Listed Building. An Arborocultural survey was carried out to ensure new foundations did not affect adjoining trees. Although the Conservation Officer expressed a requirement for replacement single glazing, HTP argued that slimlite double glazing would provide the same visual effect with far better energy and thermal credentials. Full details were submitted to Discharge a Planning Condition, and this was Approved.
