Complete refurbishment of a 1930s 3-storey, semi-detached house in Highgate with new basement works, rear and dormer extension, and rear garden design. The design aimed to bleed the boundary between inside and outside by introducing full-width full-height glass sliding doors to the rear extension and a large, motorised sash window that transforms the dormer into a Juliette balcony. The new garden was also conceived as an ‘external room’ with a sundeck, outdoor sauna, open-air shower, and bicycle workshop. A rich natural palette was employed including Corten, green living walls, and clay plaster. Hatterwan Architects provided full architectural services including contract administration and project management.
