Loft conversion and complete refurbishment to the top floor of a 1930s 2-storey, semi-detached house in Willesden Green. The apartment was extended to form a new maisonette including an internalised roof terrace with a living wall. The design aimed to introduce light to both floors by introducing a full-height glass wall and sliding door into the terrace. Positioning the new folded metal staircase against the glass wall allowed light in and an evergreen view out. The material palette was kept ‘honest’ with exposed timber rafters, ply cladding, unpainted grey plastered walls and blackened steel. The project was an architect's self-build project.
