This sports club in Surrey is located in Metropolitan Open Land (MOL). The brief from our client was to improve the club’s facilities and grow the membership by attracting families. It was important to look at the entire site and anticipate how changes to buildings, car parking and landscape might be made over time. We developed ‘test fits’ or spatial diagrams which informed the written strategic brief and helped the client clarify what was possible. The project includes a new 400m2 gym, a 25m pool, padel tennis, upgraded changing facilities, exercise studios and treatment facilities. We have just completed a planning application for the project with the local authority planners at the London Borough of Kingston.
