grafted undertook RIBA stages 0-3 for a holistic remodelling of an interwar semi-detached house in Kensal Rise, London. The works include the demolition of the existing garage and erection of a wraparound extension, single-storey at rear, with part two-storey extension to side. Loft converted via hip-to-gable works, with dormer window to rear. The proposals for the rear exterior offer a contemporary take on the local vernacular. Stack bond brickwork is used in between brick piers in reference to the half-timber/infill aesthetic found on houses in the area. Sustainability is considered throughout, with splayed openings on the loft windows to manage solar gain and the installation of a concealed Air Source Heat Pump. Planning has been submitted and we are awaiting decision.
