Designed with the site context in mind, this award winning house has been built on the site of a former agricultural building within the Bath and Bristol Green Belt and Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty. Conceived as a low lying timber and glass structure, designed to nestle into the terraced landscape, the site was constrained by typography, geology and local planning requirements. With sleeping acommodation situated on the lower ground floor with the entrance, open planned living spaces and kitchen above, three terraces afford our client panoramic views across the surrounding countryside. The thermal mass and high performance of the building is complemented by solar hot water panels to provide a low energy soultion. Part home, part artists studio the attention to every detail is in tandem with the palette of natural materials used. Winnerm, RIBA Town and Country Awards 2011
